(...) Those who feel that the idea of a “metro male“ is nothing more than a way of boosting the sales of beauty products will ironically find lots of support from Verma’s collection of artworks. German artist Stephan Weitzel’s Straightjacket mocks the illusion of freedom given to the metro man. He may not have to be straight or gay, hints Weitzel, but he’s just as constrained as ever – only this time by the brand of clothes he wears. Weitzel’s image of a pale-pink jacket is made up of thread, tracing paper and tape, with designer labels stitched all over it. (...)
